Social Media Strategy for Small Businesses: What to Post and How Often
A good social media strategy is not about being everywhere. It is about being useful and consistent where your customers spend time.
Choose one or two platforms
Pick the platforms your customers actually use. A business serving local consumers may prioritize Instagram and WhatsApp; a service for other businesses may prioritize LinkedIn.
Plan content pillars
Choose three or four recurring themes, for example: educational tips, behind-the-scenes, customer results and offers. This makes planning easier and keeps your feed focused.
Balance content types
- Educate: tips and how-tos.
- Show: real work, real customers (with permission).
- Engage: questions and polls.
- Sell: clear offers with a call to action.
Set a realistic rhythm
Three good posts a week that you can keep for months beat daily posting that stops after two weeks.
Measure what matters
Look beyond likes: saves, shares, replies, profile visits, link clicks and messages received. Review monthly and do more of what brings enquiries.
